A new park

We love parks.

IMG_8114

We especially love finding new fun parks.

It would be fun to document all the parks that we try out.

So I will.

Here is the first one.

But, it was so long ago, I can't remember the name of it.

Ok, I looked it up.

This park is Schaad park in Newberg, OR, and I think I should remember to take a picture of the signs!

It was a super fun park nestled in a neighborhood with a little nature trail. That's all!

LEGO club at currclick

I was on currclick's website the other day looking for some new ideas, and Aric saw the ad for a free LEGO club for homeschoolers.  He said "wait, what's that?"  I told him what it was, and he said sign me up! So, I did.

The meeting was on Monday.  So, this is what our Monday morning looked like.  We brought all the LEGO's out to the living room because we had a list of pieces to find for his first club meeting.  As a side note...I think I'll leave the LEGO bins out in the living room again.  They weren't really playing with them when I moved them back to their room.  Now that they are out again, they are actually getting played with again.

It's a great creative outlet for my boys.

We were able to find most of the pieces he needed just before the meeting. It pays to have tons of LEGO's in situations like this!  I was glad we could find them.

The theme was rainforests, and here is his completed project, a rainforest research center.

The colors don't all match perfectly, but oh well!  He loved it, and had fun and that's what matters.  I'm glad he wasn't worried about the colors being perfect.  I've already got the printouts for June's meeting so we can start finding the pieces over the next few weeks!

Weekly wrap-up: Krispy Kreme

It has been a while, yes I know.  Sometimes life just throws things our way and we have to stop and focus on the most important things for a while, and that is pretty much where I have been the last few months. But, I am here now, and that's good, right?

I only got a few pictures of things. We had some fun on Star Wars day (May the 4th).  We painted yodas as you can see in this photo.

A few other Star Wars themed things we had are Star Wars Guess who, and a few Star Wars books.  I printed up some pages that included Star Wars Sudoku.

We went to OMSI this week.  It was fun to walk through the maze exhibit again, especially because it was less busy.  We got to explore more!

This maze is following the string and trying to weave your way through. pretty fun!

I even found these finger mazes intriguing.

The water was a hit on this day as always.  I love this place when it is not very busy.

On Friday morning we were down in Keizer at Dutch Bros. selling Krispy kreme donuts for a fundraiser for our co-op LIFE academy.  We all had a lot of fun doing that.

Alex really got into it.  Actually all the kids did.  I wish I would have gotten a picture of the 3 teen girls doing dances out there on the sidewalk.

image We had 40 boxes to sell.  We sold 13 during our 2 hour shift.  The family after us was there for an hour and they sold the rest!  I don't know what they did differently, but that's impressive!

Other news of the week...

~April has her first official job, a newspaper route!  She starts this week, and she got a really great route that is close to our house.

I'm glad to be done with another week, now onto the next!

Happy Homeschooling!

Santa gnome-bots

This post is way old, but better late than never!

We made these santa bots back at Christmas time, and it was a lot of fun.  We gathered supplies like Almost unschoolers suggested.

IMG_7456

This is the finished product.  I think this was April's.  They turned out pretty cute.

IMG_7453

A better view of the whole thing.  I think it was even dancing around for this picture.

IMG_7452

But, before we had the finished product we had lots of building time, and lots of trial and error.  It was a little frustrating, but they both kept going and trying different things.

IMG_7451

The table was a beautiful mess!

IMG_7450

April figured it out the quickest, but that's expected given her age and abilities over the boys.

IMG_7449

Aaron went through a lot of cups!

It was a fun project, and I hope to make some other bot projects shared at Almost Unschoolers, she really has some fun ideas.
