Thankful Thursday

I am just amazed every autumn at the beauty created by the leaves and weather. It's just an amazing, awe inspiring time. I am so thankful for that gift every year around this time.

Thankful Thursday

Today is the world day of play. It means that we all have the ability to play and we all have a need to play once in a while. Whatever that "play" looks like for us. For me it is a lot of things, but lately it has been LEGO and I am really thankful that I discovered it.

ABC blogging: B is for Bauman Farms harvest festival

We had a lot of fun at the Bauman Farms harvest festival this fall. We did all the usual like riding the bug train...

Admiring the painted hay bails...

Going through the corn maze...

And of course, picking a pumpkin!...

Pumpkin time is so much fun!

Thankful Thursday

I've been thinking a lot about my relationships with people and how important they are. I'm thankful for people all around me and the various connections we have. Also reminding myself how much I need to take care of them both (the people and the relationships)

7th grade homeschool curriculum

Now that the dust has settled and I am starting to get things unpacked and opened up I think it's time to finally make a post about our curriculum choices for '23-'24 school year!

Unboxing the 7th grade curriculum kit with Alex. He was mostly excited and that's always a good sign.

For Alex's main 7th grade curriculum we have purchased the non-religious 7th grade curriculum kit as the main bulk of his school work. This is the 2nd year in a row that we have gone with Timberdoodle. I love the variety it provides and the freedom it gives us to use other things too.

7th grade curriculum kit from Timberdoodle (non-religious)

There's so much good stuff in this curriculum kit. It's a little overwhelming at first. Okay, I'm still overwhelmed, but mostly it just makes me excited for all the things we can do.

All the items we got in the elite non-religious kit are marked with the dark blue dots

We got the elite non-religious which is everything with a dark blue dot in the image above. We also didn't get the math they recommended (Math-U-See) and there are a few minor things we switched out, but for the most part it's pretty much this list.

An art project from the Timberdoodle kit.

There are so many books that I can't share each one individually in this post, but I will try to share as we use them. I will also share the other things that aren't from the curriculum kit that we'll be using this school year in other book sharing posts.

I hope you found this helpful in some way. I will always be grateful for other homeschool families that share their curriculum. It's super helpful to see what others do and what works.

My Weekly Notebook: Week 39

Life this week...

I saw a video this week of a family that bought an old school and made it their home. Now I want an old school. How cool would that be?! I could only imagine all the space for all these homeschool books and rooms we could use for various projects. It would be so nice. Imagine a life where the table could stay clear for dinner because there are five other tables in the house to clutter up! There was even a pool in one of the rooms.

The table always looks like this. We hardly ever eat at the table anymore. I know this needs to change!

Homeschool this week...

We started some big art projects. Alex started this slow stitched polar bears kit. He got the first layer on. There are more layers and then some stitching to finish. Excited to see how this one comes out!

Places we're going and people we're seeing...

Not a lot of places we went due to Alex being sick most of the week. Alex missed all his classes and a teen outing. Aric did get to go on the teen lunch outing and he had drums. We did manage to get to the pumpkin patch/harvest festival at the end of the week.

A few of our favorite things this week...

I asked Alex what his favorite thing from the week was, he said being home. Of course, I think all my boys would never leave the house if I let them.

Things I'm working on...

Getting more pictures of myself on outings. Not because I absolutely love how I look, but because I need to feel more comfortable being on camera and not worrying about what I look like.

Something I accomplished...

I made and delivered pumpkin banana bread. It's so delicious and I think the recipients were happy with some bread too.

What we're reading...

I found myself driving for a few hours this week by myself so I listened to this book, The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down by Haemin Sunim. Lots of great advice for being mindful and finding peace.

Movies/TV we watched...

Currently on the 5th Harry Potter movie.

Other thoughts from the week...

Having Honey Powder is great to have on hand. I love that I can make just what I need and the honey won't get all hard before I can use it.

I'm grateful for...

The month of October. So much fun to be had this month!

Thankful Thursday

We finally have our Christmas tree up! It's super late this year, but I'm thankful that it's finally here.
