A weekly journal: week 1

 

Life this week...

Lots of celebrating happened this week as we moved into the new year. We had Alex's birthday on Monday and New Year's on Wednesday. Then I got sick so we couldn't do much else the rest of the week. Also, the washing machine decided it needed attention on Saturday. Not the fun last week of holiday break we had hoped for, but there were some fun moments mixed in.

Homeschool this week...

It was a nice break for Christmas and New Year's. We had planned to do some schooling, but that didn't happen, so we're back to the grind tomorrow!

Mom-school this week...

I have been creating little LEGO mosaics daily for the month of January and have made some lovely creations. My favorite one so far is this pink and purple one.

Places we're going and people we're seeing...

We went to see Sonic 3 for Alex's Birthday. He invited a group of close homeschool buddies and they ate tons of popcorn and snacks.

A few of our favorite things this week...

One of my new favorite things to do each week is pulling book holds at our local library. It gives me some purpose outside of my normal tasks and I feel like I am helping the community.  

Something I accomplished...

• I made my January LEGO calendar
• Put all Christmas decor away (including LEGO winter village)
• Participated in all the days of mosaics in January so far
  

What we're reading...

My reading achievements for 2024 (pictured below). I actually read 17 books. This picture was taken before it updated. Will I be able to reach 50 this year?!

Movies/TV we watched... 

We saw Sonic 3 in the theater.

Outdoor time...

Starting back at 0! I'm happy for a fresh start because last year we ended with only 382. I have some ideas for helping us do better this year. Some of those ideas include, weekly hikes (52 Hikes) even if I go by myself), going on more drives and adventures and counting some of that driving time where we are in the woods, and longer daily walks. I need to find lots more ideas though!

LEGO...

I had a blast making this January LEGO calendar. It's "overpriced coffee shop" themed. I just love how it turned out.

 

I'm cooking/eating...

I made lemon bars for Alex's birthday treat. Hubby made some Rye sourdough bread that was delicious.

I'm grateful for...

Journal writing, blogging, Instagram, Facebook, paper, all these places that I can write thoughts and share memories.
