Pond nature study

This week we explored some local ponds for some outdoor time, and a little nature study.

We took a net and a basin to do a little pond dipping.

These 2 were ready to explore the water, but they stopped long enough for me to grab a quick picture.

The pond was so peaceful, and the boys got right to work. We scooped up all kinds of critters and plants. Aric even accidently caught a little dragonfly. He let it go.

It was hard to see all the little tiny critters with the camera. But there's a lot of little things swimming in there.

This was a pretty day at the pond despite the smoky haze still covering us. This was the first day it was cloudy and overcast, and the haze was just starting to clear up a little.

That's all we have for this nature study. The boys did some nature pages as well, from Handbook of Nature Study, but I didn't get any pictures of them. We need some time to improve on our nature study pages too as we get back into the nature study groove.

I am linking this up to Handbook of Nature Study's 4 Seasons of Pond life linky.
