My Weekly Notebook: A quiet week

Life this week...

Life was pretty quiet this week. It was April's birthday on Friday and we had big plans for Saturday, but they didn't work out, so we have postponed them. We celebrated the day with cake and presents.

Her work surprised her with a small cake. It was perfect for her. We added the sloth decoration. I love to have a theme for birthdays even if we aren't having a big party. Her theme this year was sloths.

We also had a Caramel Tres Leches cake from Costco. She has been wanting to try this one for a very long time, and since I didn't know she was getting the other cake decided that we should have this one.

The sloth balloon was adorable.

Homeschool this week...

I spent some of the week getting our homeschool organized, including finding and registering for classes and activities. I think I'm finally getting excited about a new school year.

Mom-school this week...

I didn't get around to any mom-school this week. I still need to think and be intentional about doing it, and it just didn't happen.

Helpful homeschool tips and advice to share...

Keep things simple and get outside. Those two things seem to always be the best practices, but the hardest thing for me to achieve.

Places we're going and people we're seeing...

We went to IKEA this week. I've been needing to go for a while but just waiting for the right time. April asked if we could go so she could look at some things for her room when she goes back to school, so we trekked up there on Wednesday. We found the things we were looking for and almost snatched up some clearance couches. I decided to wait on the couches but was sooo tempted. We've needed new couches for a few years now.

My favorite thing this week was...

Building LEGOs while watching Heartland

My kids' favorite thing this week was...

Pretty sure it's going to be bowling every week for Alex.

Things I'm working on...

I have made a list and plan to get supplies this week to make a yard dice game for our family. I think it should be a fun addition and project.

Random things the kids worked on...

None this week.

Something I accomplished...

I made it to WinCo for a grocery shopping trip, something I haven't been able to do for a few months. WinCo is my favorite grocery store, but we don't have one close, so I rarely get there for our big grocery trip.

What we're reading...

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is our current read-aloud/listen. One of the chapters we listened to this week was 30 minutes for the whole chapter. I am enjoying listening right along with the boys.

Movies we watched...

We did not really watch any movies this week. We watched a lot of other stuff, but not any moives.

Outdoor time...

Outdoor time was a miss this week. Alex played outside a lot, and we did some yard work, but other than that we didn't get any outdoor activities in.

Games we played...

We played Disney Headbanz, charades style.

I'm cooking/eating...

We didn't get to have our usual meatball plates while at IKEA, so we bought some meatballs to make at home. We paired it with some mashed potatoes and honey glazed carrots to kinda match what they give you at the store. We even had the meatball sauce! It was good, and we got our meatball fix.

Something that worked out great or didn't work out for us this week...

So much just didn't work out for us this week. I don't want to go into why or what, just know it wasn't a perfect week. Hoping next week is better!

I'm grateful for...

Antibiotics and feeling better. And vitamins and supplements that help too.

Thanks for reading!

That about wraps up my week. It's time for you to tell me about your week! I have decided to make this a Link-Up for others to join in and share. You can share anything about your week and link up.
